Prayer Works.
God Heals through prayer!
We don’t always understand how the ministry of prayer works. However, according to the scriptures, we know that God requires that we pray. I have had many unanswered prayers that I can honestly reflect on in gratitude and thank God He didn’t grant my request. Yet many wonder, “ Why didn’t you bless me with my request? How was that not good for me?” One of my unanswered prayers for years was healing for uterine fibroids. I had been suffering the inconvenience and excruciating pain of fibroids. One of those effects resulted in a low blood count that had to be treated with iron transfusion—one day, as I was walking into Duke Hospital for treatment with my three children in tow. We had been running errands all day, and I had tried not to take them into a public restroom, but after holding my pee for hours, I felt like my bladder was about to explode. I dashed into the first restroom I saw, and there in front of me was a woman in a wheelchair blocking the entrance to both available stalls. I looked at her with eyes of compassion while indicating to her daughter behind her I needed her to roll fast. Then one of my daughters tugged at my hand and said, “Mommy, you should pray for her.” She looked up at me in agreement. I asked her how I may pray for her, and she told me that she had been suffering from aplastic anemia (Not producing enough RBC) for many years and comes to Duke weekly for blood transfusion. I prayed for her, and she left. The following week, I went back to Duke for the second of my two-part treatment, and I noticed a group of people gathered around someone in a wheelchair. Out of extreme curiosity, I got closer to investigate. The same woman I prayed for was celebrating that she could now produce red blood cells and that God healed her.
I was genuinely happy for her. But I couldn’t help but ask God, “What about my anemia? Why haven’t you healed me?” I don’t have the answer to that. My healing was a result of conventional medicine. However, let me declare that God still heals when we pray.
